Best Wednesday Ever

I could have sworn I posted something last week.  Has it really been two weeks?!  Already?!  Thanks, Thanksgiving, for throwing me off my game.

Oh well, here I am now.  And guess what!  a miracle happened!

Remember that tragedy I told you about?  The tunic I unceremoniously threw in the trash as I cleaned my house?

A-HA-HA!! I was so wrong and it's so great!  It turns out I had moved the tunic and held it in my hands SO MANY TIMES since my cleaning frenzy, but I actually thought it was a box of envelopes.  I had packed it in there for gift giving and completely forgotten.

And the angel choir sings:
"OHH. MYY. GAWD!"*

The weight of the box seemed as though it was a quarter full, and I just assumed it had gotten lost in some pile, a few years back, and that's why I bought and started another one last year.  I'll put them all in the same box later, I said to myself.  Sure, later.  Later could be March 2018!  It wasn't though.  It was Wednesday.  Good, ol' Wednesday.

The funny thing is, as soon as I got over the shock of seeing the long lost tunic in a supposed box of envelopes, I remembered that as I was putting it in the box in the first place I had had a conversation with myself that sounded something like...

"I should really write Savannah** or something on this box so I remember that it's the tunic."
"Nah... you'll remember.  Don't worry about it."
"Really, you think I'll remember?  That's very nice..."
"Sure it's nice.  Just put the closed box on top of the knitting stuff over there."
"Yeah, with the knitting stuff... I can't forget if it's with the other yarn... but closed? Do you think that's a good idea?  Maybe I should just leave it open.  At least for a bit.  So I really remember, you know?"
"No, no, no. Just close the box.  You don't want it to get dusty do you?  Or fall out on the floor?  You just folded it so nicely.  That's it... just put the lid on and go make some tea."

Apparently the devil on my shoulder is kind of sleazy and creepy.  But it doesn't matter now!  Muahaha!

And then, to top off an already stellar day, I decided to finish the zig zag scarf.  It had been sitting in my travel knitting bag for a while with one triangle left to finish, and I decided that I needed to start something else soon, so this one had to go, travelling or no.

If you remember how annoyed I was with the way the ridges between triangles turned out, you may also remember that I fixed the problem, but decided that instead of frogging and starting over using my new method, I just decided to mirror the annoying ridges on the last two triangles.  Which meant that I had to constantly eyeball my yarn, and then, based on nothing but a slightly educated hunch, decide that it was time for the penultimate triangle ridges to begin.  So I did that, and that was good.  I was fairly confident at that point that I'd have enough to finish two triangles, and I was pretty worried that I'd actually started too soon, and that I probably had enough for another triangle after the fact.

But on Wednesday evening, when I picked up that scarf, and eyeballed that yarn my heart leaped.  I looked down, and saw the piddliest little scrap of yarn left in an airy and limp imitation of a yarn ball. That's when I got to play the most exciting game of Yarn Chicken I have ever played. I won, obviously (It's so obvious), but not without some serious heart pounding, flushed cheeks, and a bit of a sweaty lip.  Seriously guys, it was super fun.

This is how much I had left after binding off!

We also did some family furniture modifying in the afternoon... more on this tomorrow.  Or two weeks from now.  It's the same thing, apparently.

* It's impossible to elongate the pronunciation of the word God without spelling good or goooood, or without altering the spelling all together.  GAWD it is!  Miracle of miracles!  Hallelujah!  Should I thank St. Anthony for his finding help this time?  I did ask for his help... but there was no AHA moment that I usually associate with his intersession, so I'm gonna go with nope.  He's a pretty good guy, though, so I'm not gonna hold it against him.  You can't find 'em all buddy.
