One Block at a Time
The blanket is going along swimmingly. I have 10 squares to my name and I am still having a good time.
The pattern is written so that the blanket is knit in 4 different blocks and then pieced together before the border is knit on, but knowing my own particular weakness is piecing together... I changed the pattern so that I can actually make the whole thing in one piece. I also changed the placement of the light blue and aqua... for symbolic reasons. Thank you Excel for all of your help in this endeavour.
So the whole thing will be knit from the centre out, one block at a time. I am begining with the "cool block" as I call it, and will work my way around in a clockwise manner. The only thing that is really effected by this change is that the direction of the angles point in instead of out. No biggie.
I also wanted to cut down on the loose ends that will need to be sewn in, so instead of cutting the yarn at the end of each square, I'm just putting the yarn to the side and trying to work around it. It's actually not as annoying as I thought it would be so far, despite having some issues with clean edges and doing a centered double decrease from behind. But more on that in a future post.
The only thing is, because of having all of these balls attached to the (still very small) blanket, it's not very portable. Already.
On the bright side, I'm actually working on some of those other, unfinished projects when I need to knit somewhere that is other than my couch.
Which is why the koi sweater is done!
Yippee!
