In Knitting News:
The blanket is going OK, if a little slowly.
That eureka moment I had had about the blanket turned out not to be so amazing. Yes, some squares can be knit in reverse stockinette, but some still need the knit knit, purl purl squares. And I still haven't figured out how to do the edges in a nice way for those, but I'm not sure I care anymore.
I'm getting to the point where I kind of avoid knitting on the blanket because it's become too complicated. It was supposed to be a super easy, not so fast, but fast enough for a blanket kind of thing, but all the changing back and forth is hard to keep track of and I keep doing the wrong stitch when not paying attention and then having to tink back whole rows which is just annoying when I'm just trying to watch tv, you know? So I think I'm giving up on that aspect of it. I'm just going to cut the yarn if it's looking like I'm going to have to do a half and half square and just do it all in stockinette or reverse stockinette, That's easy to keep track of and will help to cut back on the sewing in at least a little later on.
While avoiding the more complicated than it needed to be blanket, I finished that pair of socks I started last year (yippee!)
After the socks were done I started a small shawl. A very small, made to be a headscarf kind of shawl. I've never really made anything like this before, so I hope it turns out! I'm using Knit Picks Luminance Handpainted (in "Sophistication")which is a 100% silk laceweight. It's very nice and also teeny.
