Knitting Up a Storm
So after a 2 year baby rearing knitting hiatus... July happened.
Maybe I should re-frame that. 6 months after Christmas happened.
I know it's a little bit nutty, but every year, at about July, I start thinking about Christmas. Not seriously thinking about it, like what food will I make, or trying to decideif when I will throw a party. It's just a little niggling... like, let's check out the pintrest Christmas board. That sort of thing.
Sometimes I'll pull out the tree skirt (not a skirt with trees, a cover for the base of the Christmas tree) that I've been working on for... three years? maybe four... or five?! I have been working on this skirt for five years.
But this summer I did not pull out the skirt. This summer my fingers started tingling... and I went Whole-Hog-Knitting-Project-Planning nuts!
This is the summer the creative part of me took a stand. This summer my creativity said:
"Let's make ALL the things!!! Let's start our Christmas list making TWO WHOLE months early and make something for EVERYONE!!!! Forget that silly skirt, we can get to that later, THIS summer is for CREATIVE THINKING!!"
I managed to talk the creativity monster down to just presents for the small people I know and a few very small things for our game that we play each Christmas. So I'm not going completely crazy. But I have been on a noticeable knitting binge.
Two months in, my tally consists of one tragedy, one OK thing, two triumphs, a Christmas stocking, half a pair of slippers, and waaaay too much time spent figuring out the construction of a brioche scarf.
I have about 8 more things waiting in queue (6 of which are actually intended as gifts).
I'll have a post with pictures and details in a few days, as this one's getting a little long.
Excited?
It's OK, I can be excited enough for the both of us.
