Spoils of the Creativity Monster

As I mentioned earlier, I have one tragedy, one OK thing, two triumphs, a Christmas stocking and half a pair of slippers in my Making All the Things tally.

This is the OK thing.  It actually started as a competely different jumper with a cute cable pattern, but the yarn and pattern were really NOT making friends, and one of them had to go.

This is the back of the jumper, knit from this (only slightly) modified pattern.

It ended up being way too loose even after careful swatching, and then after washing it and throwing it in the dryer.  I ended up having to put a pleat in the back, and sewing the buton holes smaller.  I think it will be fine, but it's not the type of gift that I can be 100% happy with.

The yarn was really nice to work with though.  It's Knit Picks Chroma Worsted in Party Hat.  I ended up with a ball and a half more than I needed.  I have plans.

These are my triumphs.  It's a little jacket and a pair of booties.  The yarn was Lion Brand Thick and Quick  in Hudson Bay.   My first thought when I saw it was, "Ooooh, it looks like a Hudson's Bay stripe!"
Boy was I surprised when I read the label.

I used this pattern as a base for the jacket but then I totally changed it.

Here is a pattern for the boots.  They were a pleasure to knit, and inflicted my poor little monkey with shoe envy.  That kid loves shoes.  I have other plans.

These other plans may or may not be connected to the half a slipper on my list.

This is the stocking, knit very randomly from my own design.    It still needs to be blocked and a hook loop needs to be added, but it's pretty much done.

Might it be nicer it I had actually planned out what I was going to do before hand?  Perhaps, but that would have been way less fun.

I used some of the leftover yarn from the 5 Years and Counting Tree Skirt in experimental stripes.

How does one posess leftover yarn from a project that isn't even finished yet?  Let's just say I'm magical.

You could also say that I've finished the fair isle/intarsia section and have only to add a lace edging and button band to finish said project.  But in the spirit of Christmas giving in September, we're going to go with "I'm magical".
Ok?

You may also have noticed the Tragedy at the top of the list.  I'll have to save that one for a later post... I'm not sure I'm ready talk about it.
