The Hazzards of Cleaning

Up until recently my craft room looked more like a crazy-hoarder-lady-junk-heap room than an actual place to walk into create anything.  It's not my fault, I swear!  I had a busy couple of years.  Things just kept getting progressively busier and busier, starting with actually getting to teach full time, then I had a wedding to plan... then I had a few more drama teaching jobs, which meant lots of after school play time (and it also means trying to use stuff in the craft room time, which means even more mess without the clean up.) Cleaning my room was going to have to happen later... during the summer... or some other time.

Then when I really NEEDED to clean the room and the rest of the house because BABY! I was put on modified bed rest, which meant no stairs, no lifting and no standing for longer than 10 minutes at a time.  Cleaning the craft room was going to have to wait until baby was born.  Hahaha!!!  No, I'm not that clueless.  I knew it would be a while until I even got a whiff of a chance at cleaning the room.

After the creativity monster took a big bite out of my brain this summer, I decided it would be a good idea to clear my space, and so I did.  I had 5 straight days to clean the heck out of that room.

-I sorted my yarn stash
-I folded a recently finished Christmas present very nicely
-I sorted my paper
-I put the recently finished Christmas present in a nice little bag
-I found my wedding photos
-I got rid of junk
-I threw out the recently finished Christmas present
-I put all the mementos I need to sort through in a pile
-I avoided my fabric closet by re-sorting my yarn stash
-I decided I need to knit way more to get rid of all this stash yarn
-I went through my pattern books and magazines
-I began planning future projects
-In order to stay on task, I decided to make a box to keep my finished Christmas items in
-I failed to find the recently finished Christmas present
-I pulled the entire house apart looking for the recently finished Christmas present
-I cried a little about the loss of the recently finished Christmas present

Did you catch that?  I THREW OUT ONE OF THE PRESENTS I HAD KNIT!
This is the Tragedy.
I have kind of accepted the fact that I threw out a lovely little tunic for a lovely little girl.  It's fairly aggravating, and pretty ironic.

Silver lining?  I found a darling mitten pattern that would be perfect for an aspiring figure skater (the aforementioned lovely little girl.)
I'm sure the garbage will love wearing the tunic.
